Event description
New Year's Eve Mooloolaba is the region's largest free celebration to welcome in the new year.

This family-friendly event will be held along Mooloolaba Esplanade on Sunday 31 December from 4pm to midnight.

Entertainment kicks off at 4.30pm on the Main Stage with a range of live music including:
•Andrea Kirwin ****
•Mason Hope
•Dan Horne ****
•The Floating Bridges
•Vegas Please

Kids' shows Despicable Me 3 and Kung Fu Panda 3 will entertain on the Sea Stage from 5.00pm and energetic DJ sets will keep the young ones dancing on the beach until midnight.

There will be roving street entertainment, children’s activities, inflatable rides and delicious food will be available from local vendors, restaurants and cafes on the Esplanade.

Amazing fireworks displays will light up the sky at 8.30pm and midnight to celebrate the new year and the last event of the 50th Anniversary Naming of the Sunshine Coast.

Council will be providing free shuttle services to New Year’s Eve Mooloolaba at the University of the Sunshine Coast, departing every 30mins from 5pm to 8pm and continue again from 9pm. For all other paid bus services to Mooloolaba please visit the Translink website

Council will be providing free shuttle services FROM New Year’s Eve Mooloolaba to Kawana Shoppingworld, University of the Sunshine Coast and Maroochydore Bus Station from 8:45pm. All shuttle services will terminate by 2am.

This iconic event is a safe, secure, fully fenced, alcohol and glass free zone and intoxicated people will not be permitted entry. To reduce our impact on the environment, chemical glow sticks and glow products will not be allowed into the event. Battery operated LED products are permitted. Glow sticks and glow products are not recyclable and the liquid contained inside them can be extremely harmful to the environment and the discarded items may end up in waterways harming marine life.

There will be amplified music and fireworks at this event, so pet owners in the area should ensure pets are safe and secure.

Council suggests pet owners do not bring their animals to the event due to the large crowds, amplified music and fireworks.

Event description
The GDC Observatory in conjunction with Astronomy Education Services will host a free, community event to observe the Total Lunar Eclipse on 31st January, 2018 at Hertha Reserve, Stirling WA .
Hertha Reserve is located across Cedric Street from Stirling Civic Gardens. Its also across from the Stirling Train Station.

Guests are encouraged to use public transport to the event.

This will be the second Full Moon for January (aka A Blue Moon), plus the Moon will be at a close approach to Earth in its orbit (aka A Super Moon) and the Moon will move into the shadow of Earth causing it to turn a Coppery/ Orange colour (aka A Blood Moon).

This means we'll observe a;

"Super Blue Blood Moon!"

There will be telescopes, a large screen broadcasting an image of the Moon as it enters "Totality" and talks/ lectures throughout the night. Don't forget to bring your phone so we can snap an uber-cool image of the eclipsed Moon for you!
